By Taylor Jade Powell, president of Butler Intercollegiate YMCA On Day 1 of our Fall NYC Service Trip 2015, we spent 11 or so hours traveling from Indianapolis, IN to Staten Island, NY. The car ride was filled with Double-Stacked Oreos, 90s music, Starbucks stops and sleepiness. We arrived at Calvary Presbyterian Church around 9pm, and were welcomed with open arms into its Volunteer Village. After a quick debrief, our small group of seven headed to bed in preparation of our first day of work with Friends of Rockaway.
